Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna state governor says that anyone who tries to intervene in Nigeria’s upcoming elections, will “go back in body bags”.

El-Rufai made this remark on NTA’s Tuesday Live programme. The governor described Nigeria as an independent and sovereign state that would never bow to foreign powers.

“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that will come and intervene, they will go back in body bags,” Nasir El-Rufai said.

El-Rufai recalled that in the 90s, Nigeria had once intervened in Liberia and Sierra Leone’s political affairs. The former minister of the FCT said such intervention was the result of a consensus by the international community, a thing he described as a “gesture of neighbourliness”.
