“They know they can’t win the league” — Neville mocks Arsenal
Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has hit out at Arsenal following their 3-1 defeat of Liverpool.
Despite the Gunners bouncing back into the premier league title race conversation, the premier league legend still casts skepticism over Arsenal going far to actually lift the title even after beating Liverpool.
Speaking post-match, the ex-player and manager now turned pundit, hit out at Arsenal’s over the top celebration after emerging with a 3-1 win against the Reds.
Gary Neville on the Arsenal celebrations after the full-time whistle, said:
“The celebrations at the end of the game, I don’t think they were of a team that think they can win the title. I think they were of a team that didn’t want to be out of the race just yet.
“I think the celebrations were immature. It was more relief.”
The Gunners in Liverpool’s bid for a second premier league title after 30-years and under Jurgen Klopp’s reign as manager, dealt the Reds a significant blow to cut the advantage to 2-points.
This leaves things a little more interesting at the top of the table, with Manchester City needing to win all their 2 outstanding games to go top of the table, and Arsenal closing the gap to 2 points.
The Gunners will need Liverpool to drop more points again to see the Reds fighting for a top 4 finish instead of a title challenge.
However way it turns out, Gary Neville still maintains his steadfast believe of the Gunners posing no threat in the title conversation.
