They have not recruited Game Changers—Graeme Souness
Former Liverpool star and at one point manager, Graeme Souness wouldn’t stop his criticisms of Manchester United and its players.
His latest criticism was on United forward, Anthony Martial whom he slammed as not being worthy of putting on the Red Devils’ shirt let alone playing for its badge.
The former Newcastle United manager went further at the Old Trafford club’s recruitment policy over the years and recently, criticizing them for not going after game changers.
Contrary to Graeme Souness’ comments on Anthony Martial, the Frenchman had a stellar preseason outing with the club in Asia and Australia particularly in his display against Liverpool.
The former Sevilla player suffered quite recently an injury to rule him out of the club’s Premier League season opener against Brighton.
Speaking in reference to that, Graeme Souness admits Anthony Martial cannot be relied upon, stating the World Cup star has shown he cannot handle the pressure of the badge.
The Scot revealed on talksport stating:
“In Manchester United’s case, they’ve not really recruited any game changers. When you are talking about ‘we are going to miss Martial’, how many opportunities is that young man going to get to be a Manchester United player?
“He’s proven already to me he’s not for Man United. He can’t deal with the pressure of playing at Man United.
“Man United are one of the biggest clubs in the world. They are in a cup final every time they go out and play a game of football. As Liverpool are, as Chelsea are as Man City are now. Welcome to the big league,” he said.
