"They are the real deal" -- Rio Ferdinand on the EPL Title race

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has issued a stark warning to Manchester City, urging them to consider Arsenal as genuine contenders in the race for the EPL title.

Arsenal’s commanding position atop the league standings, currently holding 36 points, six ahead of City, has prompted Ferdinand to highlight the Gunners as a force to be reckoned with in the EPL title race.

City’s recent 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa has seen them drop to fourth place, marking a winless streak of four matches and placing them behind Liverpool and Villa in the standings.

Expressing his viewpoint, Ferdinand emphasized that despite Arsenal not hitting the performance levels seen last season, their consistency has propelled them to the league summit, making them a formidable adversary.

“In my view, Arsenal hasn’t reached the heights of their performances from last season yet. But considering their current position, they’re leading the league without hitting top form consistently,” Ferdinand remarked.

The former defender pointed out the concern for City, suggesting that they should be wary of Arsenal’s relentless drive and consistency.

He emphasized the need for Guardiola’s side to avoid dropping points, especially after their setback against Villa, acknowledging the Gunners’ potential to challenge City fiercely in their race for the EPL title.

While Ferdinand initially tipped City for league victory at the start of the season, he admitted to wavering in his conviction, acknowledging the realistic prospect of Arsenal claiming the title amidst their impressive run.

With the Gunners displaying resilience and leading the charge, the title race is poised to intensify, possibly resulting in a compelling tussle between Arsenal, City, and Liverpool, as the season progresses.
