There's no messing around--Chalobah Warns teammates

It’s all back to business now, Chelsea defender and  academy graduate, Trevoh Chalobah notes while speaking of the coming season and the club’s new signings.

While speaking on what the upcoming season would bring and what the new signings will need to do to get into the team, the player identifies one key factor that matters in the long run, specifically the preseason.

Chalobah points out the need to impress the manager, and according to him, it has to come right away if anyone wants a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The London club will be looking to build on it’s mixed 2021/22 season which although came with silverware, ended in quite the anticlimax after kicking off with a promising start.

In response, Chelsea moved in quick to sign on reinforcements in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly from Manchester City and Napoli respectively.

On the signings while speaking at Chelsea’s press conference, Chalobah stated:

“They [new signings and returning loanees] just need to impress and be ready.

“That is what I did last season and I want to do the same, so for players coming back from loan it is the same thing really – just give it your all and you never know what could happen.

“He [Thomas Tuchel] definitely sees us as all the same and everyone is on the same level at the moment so it is up to whoever wants it more and wants to impress.

“We are just focusing on pre-season training, getting fit and playing in the games so that’s the focus right now. I have not spoken to the manager personally yet, but my aim is just to do well in pre-season, like how I started last year, and start strong again.”

Like a new signing, Trevoh Chalobah broke into the Chelsea squad after an impressive start that saw him earn 30 appearances and even scoring on his debut against London side, Crystal Palace.
