The time Oliver Kahn became too ‘Embarrassed’ of his Career
Widely regarded as a goal-keeping and Bayern Munich legend, Oliver Kahn was at a point an intimidating figure at the goal post for attackers looking to score past him.
The goal-keeper had quite the illustrious career that he was widely raved about in the football world, and of course, he may have been held to genuinely high standards had it not being for a certain Nigerian.
Here comes, highly rated Nigerian midfielder and Super Eagles legend, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha whose only mission was to come into the footballing world to expose perceived gods as nothing more than mere mortals.
He was so good they named him twice, they say, but what people don’t realize was that Austin Jay-Jay Okocha was so good that at one point he almost retired Oliver Kahn in the field of play.
The Nigerian for some reason came into the game having no interests in status quo or name, but intent to show up Bayern Munich for the mere mortals they were in the German league at the time.
Eintracht Frankfurt had come into the game hoping to play a normal football game but Jay-Jay Okocha had other ideas for the game that day.
It was only but a simple pass given him by a teammate while they faced Bayern, but the young Nigerian then, took it as a war as he left the Bayern defense deserted, and had Oliver Kahn running to save his career.
For the Frankfurt fans, it was a spectacle that will be talked about, but for Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, it was all about proving gods could be brought down to earth to feel so human, as he did on the day.
