"The One thing I'll never do again" -- Toke Makinwa

On-air-personality slash Nollywood actress, Toke Makinwa praises having good genes and money as her ultimate salvation for one of her greatest mistakes in life.

Taking to social media to interact with fans on X, the media personality was quizzed about her life regrets and what she might take back if she had the chance to go back in time to course correct things.

Addressing the issue of regrets, Toke Makinwa revealed not being much of a fan of dwelling so much on the past and more about the now and the future. However, delving further into one of the mistakes she still regrets making, the actress revealed toning her skin color was one of them.

According to Toke Makinwa, her only salvation for her error is having good genes and money to control the after effects of bleaching.

The fans question via the interactive session had gone as thus; “If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?”

Toke Makinwa candidly responded, admitting that her “only regret in life” was her decision to bleach her skin. She described it as the “dumbest” thing she ever did.

Despite expressing gratitude for her genetic makeup and financial resources which helped mitigate the side effects of the skin bleaching process, Makinwa emphasized the folly of her past actions.

“Nothing. Regret is so exhausting! Wait, maybe bleaching my skin. It was the dumbest thing ever and I’m just so thankful for good genes and money cos….”

The implications of skin bleaching has been a looming narrative for some time, a controversial practice that has garnered attention for its potential health risks and perpetuation of colorism.

Makinwa’s openness about her regret also highlights the importance of self-acceptance and embracing one’s natural appearance.
