The Nigerian Movie Industry loses one of its Own

The Nigerian movie industry keeps getting thinner as it again loses one of its own in Veteran filmmaker, Wale Fanu.

Reports about his death came when an associate of the deceased filmmaker, Jode Bisayo announced the filmmaker’s passing on Sunday.

The Veteran filmmaker, 72 was said to have passed through the pain of living with sickle cell anemia.

He was prior to his death, the managing director of one of the foremost production houses in Nollywood; Cinekraft.

While announcing the Nollywood icon’s death, Bisayo highlighted the contributions the deceased’s production house made in developing the Nigerian film industry, writing:

“In the beginning while Nollywood was still an embryo, there was CINEKRAFT. Cinekraft in no small way contributed to the birthing of the nascent industry.

“Behind Cinekraft administration and production management was one indefatigable, never tiring creative soul, my boss, Wale Fanu. Uncle Wales (as I like calling you), rest in the bosom of the Lord.

“A titan has gone home indeed!”

It was stated if Fanu’s death resulted from the complications of sickle cell although it is reported the deceased was a survivor of one.

Surely, the Nigerian movie industry will mourn one of its own.
