"The most important thing is Manchester United" — Van Nistelrooy

The short stint of Ruud van Nistelrooy as Manchester United interim boss may be coming to a close, but the Dutch icon’s connection with Old Trafford has never been stronger.

With three wins out of four games, including a dominant 3-0 victory over Leicester City, Van Nistelrooy has inspired the Red Devils and their fans during his short-term role.

After delivering an emotional message to the Stretford End and thanking fans for their support, Van Nistelrooy opened up about his future, sharing that he expects to hear from United’s hierarchy within days.

“(The club hierarchy) said, ‘okay, it’s going to be four [games], it’s going to be announced a new head coach’ etc, etc. So, for me, it is important to have that clarity and I appreciated that. In the end, the most important thing is this football club, and I’m here to support that in my role.”

While Ruben Amorim’s appointment as United’s next manager is imminent, Van Nistelrooy has expressed a deep desire to stay involved, offering his ongoing support “in any role” that benefits the club.

“As I said, I want to continue doing that in the future and now also the communication was okay, [that] ‘after the block of four games, there will be communication towards you and your colleagues that are in an uncertain situation’. So, I expect to hear today or tomorrow from them.”

With Amorim set to bring his own team to Old Trafford, the question remains: will United find a place for Van Nistelrooy, whose steady leadership and beloved status make him a valuable figure in the dressing room?

Fans are eager to see if this farewell will be a full-time goodbye or a new beginning for one of Old Trafford’s own.
