The Mercenary Sterling—Zabaleta slams Chelsea signing

It is safe to say that not all is a fan of former Manchester City player, Raheem Sterling, well at least for former teammate, Pablo Zabaleta who writes off the England international despite his many impact in a City shirt.

The current Chelsea forward during his time at the Etihad was privileged to have won 10 medals including Premier League titles while scoring a number of goals clocking 130 in number over a 7 year stint.

According to Zabaleta, that doesn’t write him as a legend in the Manchester City lore as for the former City right back, he considers Sterling as just another player or mercenary-like player who came to the club.

The two during their time at the Etihad club, had shared the same dressing room with City icons Sergio Aguero and David Silva but Zabaleta wouldn’t be keen to hold Sterling within same light as those players.

The backlash comes off Pablo Zabaleta calling out the former Liverpool player for being disrespectful to the club after his exit to West London.

“For me when you say legend [I think of] Aguero, Silva, [Vincent] Kompany. Those guys were on a different level, that’s why they have statues outside of the club.” The former right-back said when asked if he would consider Sterling a City legend.

“Raheem, he’s been great. We wish him of course all the best. He went to a team that is a big contender for the Premier League, but as I say, I wish him all the best. He’s a great lad,” added the Argentine.

“But Man City is always the most important thing for the fans and for the players and when you come to this club you have to give 100 per cent respect, and the moment that you leave you need to talk nicely about the club that you’ve been playing for, so I wish he could behave that way.”

Pablo Zabaleta’s comments comes on the wheel of a footage that had shown the England international snub a Manchester City fan after he had completed his move to Chelsea.
