The Emir of Kano pleads support to reduce food prices during Ramadan
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, has urged traders to lower the prices of food items and other goods to make it easier for the public to observe Ramadan amidst the current economic challenges in the country.
The Emir of Kano made the Ramadan -price-reduction announcement during the book launch of “Dauloli a Kasar Hausa,” which means ‘Kingdoms in Hausaland,’ written by Prof. Sa’idu-Mohammed Gusau.
Ado-Bayero encouraged affluent Nigerians to assist the underprivileged during Ramadan and prayed for their well-being and health to fully participate in the holy month and have their supplications and offerings approved by God.
On February 28, the Jigawa state government approved the procurement of 27,000 bags of rice and 10,800 cartons of spaghetti for distribution to residents, with the aim of alleviating economic challenges during Ramadan.
Sagir Musa, the commissioner for information, youth, sports, and culture, revealed that the state executive council has approved a memorandum for the procurement of grains to offer palliative support during the 1445AH/2024 Ramadan season.
The commissioner said, “The state executive council on Monday, approved a memorandum presented by the ministry of special duties for the award of contract for procurement of grains as palliative support for residents in the 1445AH/2024 Ramadan season.
“The council approved the procurement of 27,000 bags of rice and 10,800 cartons of spaghetti as palliatives for the 1445AH/2024 Ramadan fasting.”
