That’s what he will be remembered for — PSG president on Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reacted to Neymar Jr’s exit from the club after completing a move to Saudi Arabian giants, Al-Hilal.

In an emotional message describing Neymar, Al-Khelaifi terms the Brazilian as a club legend and one the club will forever remember.

Following a controversial move to the French Ligue 1 in a record breaking deal from Barcelona 2017, the PSG legend endured a rather mixed career in Paris that attracted a lot of media attention than need be.

Neymar ends the 6-year journey after signing for Al-Za’eem on a 2-year deal reportedly worth €80 million for the Saudi Pro League side. This makes the Brazilian the latest household name to arrive in the Middle East.

However, Al-Khelaifi has now sent a parting message to the former Barcelona star after his departure from the club on Tuesday.

Quoted via the club’s official Twitter handle, Al-Khelaifi said on Neymar’s exit:

“It is inevitably difficult to say goodbye to a legend of the Club and that’s what Neymar will be forever.”

Neymar joined the Ligue 1 side from Barcelona back in 2017 for a world record fee of €222 million, that since then has not been marched or beaten by any player.

Throughout his stay with the Parisians, he has made 173 appearances, scoring 118 goals and providing 77 assists alongside picking up a few titles with the Ligue 1 side.

Neymar played a part in getting PSG to the Champions League final in 2020 against Bayern Munich, in which they lost in a 1-0 defeat.
