On Wednesday, an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Ogun State, sentenced a 19-year-old man, Monday Olaitan, to six months’ imprisonment for stealing N100, 000 from his employer.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Magistrate, Mrs Olajumoke Somefun, sentenced Olaitan after he pleaded guilty to one count of theft.

Somefun, however, gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the convict committed the offence on December 12 around 4.50 pm at the Elega area in Abeokuta.

Shonibare said the convict stole N100, 000 from his employer, Mrs Adejoke Shodipo.

The offence, he said, contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
