TB Joshua sends note of warning to Messi against leaving Barcelona

Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Temitope Balogun Joshua has revealed that it will not be in the interest of Argentina international, Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona in an acrimonious manner.

Interestingly, Joshua who appears to have been monitoring the situation at the Nou Camp called on the Barcelona captain to carefully consider his decision despite interests from some of the leading clubs in Europe including Manchester City.

The cleric did not state if he was a fan of the 33-year-old but went ahead to air his views on one of his verified Twitter handles on Wednesday.

Last week Messi rocked the football family when he announced his decision to leave the La Liga side, a club he has been with for almost 20 years.

While the Catalan side are yet to accept his request, Messi has continued to shun training and failed to turn up for the Mandatory COVID-19 test for players.

Messi’s release clause valued at 700m euro would have to be paid if he is to leave the Nou Camp this summer despite having a year left on his contract.

La Liga has equally taken sides with Barcelona by demanding that any club that wants to sign Messi must be prepared to trigger the clause contained in his contract.

Both La Liga and Barcelona are insisting that the clause expired in June after the 2019-2020 season was supposed to have ended.

This has however been countered by Messi’s representatives who are saying that the outbreak of COVID-19, which led to the extension of the league campaign to August makes the clause still valid.
