Taraba Governor, Darius Signs Illegally Altered Gazette

The governor of Taraba state, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has been accused of signing an altered official gazette that removed four ruling houses of the Kuru Jukun-Jibu Kona chiefdom and replaced them with the Bajibro and Badami ruling houses.

The alteration was allegedly made at the request of Fidelis Kaigama, a friend of the governor, who belongs to the Bajibro family.

The current monarch of the Jukun-Jibu Kona chiefdom, Augustine Njenmang Vengkani II, was tricked into endorsing the altered gazette, but later wrote a letter to the governor withdrawing his request.

The matter is now in court, and the governor’s spokesperson declined to comment.

The illegal alteration of an official gazette is considered forgery and is punishable by a 10-year prison sentence.
