Suspected ritualist apprehended for killing 24-year-old in Rivers

A 24-year-old lady has been allegedly murdered by a suspected ritualist in the wee hours of Friday, March 18 in Rivers State.

The suspected ritualist, identified as Sunday Kara has been remanded by the police for the murder of one 24-year-old lady on Friday in Barako Community, Gokana Local Government Area of the state.

A source, in the community identified simply as Barisi testified that the suspect took the deceased to an uncompleted building that same Friday morning and murdered her.

During interrogation by community leaders the suspect, Sunday Kara denied the criminal accusation, claiming that the deceased was an asthma patient and died while they were making love.

However, the Menebon of Bomu, HRH. Mene Vurasi Benedict Tenalo, when contacted on phone distanced himself from the suspect and called on the police to ensure that justice is done on the matter.

He, however, advised the authorities to carry out its investigation carefully as the community was peace-loving and would not want such an incident to tarnish its image.

The state police spokesperson, DSP. Grace Iringe-Koko, while confirming the reports siad the suspect is already in custody.

The spokesperson also stated that Investigation into the incident was ongoing and the suspect would be prosecuted if found guilty.
