Suspected herdsmen behead farmer, injure several others

Once more, the peace of Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State has been shattered by an attack allegedly perpetrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The assault, which took place late Sunday evening, resulted in the loss of lives and left many others critically injured.

According to sources, the assailants targeted mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, leaving behind a trail of tears and sorrow. Among the casualties were identified individuals such as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.

A disturbing video circulating online, on Monday morning, depicted a deserted and devastated community.

The footage captured an eyewitness account lamenting the suddenness of the attack, with the invaders shooting indiscriminately at mourners. The scene was chaotic, with scattered tables and chairs amidst lifeless bodies lying in pools of blood.

This is not the first time Nimbo has been subjected to such violence. A similar attack occurred in 2016, resulting in numerous fatalities and sparking widespread condemnation across the nation.

As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, is yet to respond to inquiries made by DAILY POST regarding the latest attack.
