Supreme Court upholds Ganduje's election

The supreme court in its sitting on Monday affirmed the election of Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.

The court upheld the election of the Kano State governor who contested under the All Progressive Congress [APC] after it dismissed the appeal and cross-appeal instituted by Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, the gubernatorial candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP

Recall that the appeal court had upheld the election of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta declared that the grounds of the two appeals brought by the appellant were dismissed for lack of merit.

He added that the grounds of the appeals were blanket in law, unproved and could not accommodate all infractions of the electoral process.

The appellant in his appeals lost in the tribunal and appeal court.

He argued that the winner of the guber poll did not win the majority of total votes cast in the election conducted on March 9, 2019 besides other alleged electoral infractions.
