Super Falcons: “I want to stay on” — Randy Waldrum

Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum still believes in the project that is the Nigerian Women’s national team despite their woes at the Paris Olympics.

Just recently, the American coach had to answer the question pertaining to his future in the game and with the team, Randy Waldrum’s response held a lot of positive vibes about his future with the team and the Super Falcons in general.

The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, stumbled through the group stage, losing all three of their matches against Brazil, Spain, and Japan. With just one goal scored and five conceded, the team’s performance sparked widespread disapproval from fans and analysts alike.

Yet, Randy Waldrum sees a silver lining. In an interview with ESPN, he expressed his desire to continue leading the Super Falcons, eyeing the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as a pivotal goal.

“I would like to [stay on],” Waldrum stated. “I love the team. I love the direction that we’re headed. After a rough start here, I think we’re headed in a good direction.”

Acknowledging the challenges, Randy Waldrum is optimistic about the future.

“There’s a lot of upcoming talent as we start to move some of the older players out after the Olympics and bring some young talent in. I think we can accomplish great things in the next level,” he added.

With a vision for integrating fresh talent and revitalizing the squad, Waldrum aims to turn the current setback into a springboard for future success.
