Super Falcons claw their way into 4th Round of Olympics qualifiers

The Nigerian Super Falcons did it the hard way against neighbors, Cameroon in the Olympics Women qualifying round to eliminate the Indomitable Lionesses in Abuja.

The both teams faced off in the first leg, battling a tightly contested 0-0 draw away in Douala, Cameroon, with goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie called to the rescue in both halves of the stalemate.

However, the Super Falcons via Esther Okoronkwo’s lead in the 14th minute of first half, following a goalmouth scramble were able to defend the win to steal a spot in the next round of the qualifiers.

The Nigeria Women’s national team will face the winners of South Africa and Tanzania in April in the 4th round of the contest.

Missed chances ruined the Falcons’ opportunities in ending the tie on a more positive note, with Jennifer Echegini, Esther Okoronkwo both misses chances to take the tie away from Cameroon altogether.
