Super Eagles vs. Rwanda: "A dance and a test for Nigeria"

Nigeria versus Rwanda sets its stage to determine where the Super Eagles are at psychologically after the 3-0 stumping of fellow West African side, Benin Republic.

With a 100 percent start to the AFCON qualifiers, the Nigerian Men’s national team can improve their points tally in the group if the Super Eagles secure another 3-point victory against the Amavubi of Rwanda.

It is however a test for the Super Eagles in their second game of the 2025 AFCON qualifier, considering their poor form following the last AFCON final defeat to Ivory Coast. It will be an understatement to say that all eyes are on Nigeria’s impeccable record against their hosts as the Super Eagles currently remain undefeated in 5 previous clashes versus Rwanda.

Again, Augustine Eguavoen is the man at the center stage called upon to bail his country from the embarrassing situation of being without a permanent manager after months of losing Finidi George.

Credit to Eguavoen, the Super Eagles of Nigeria played some of their exciting football against Benin Republic, which was quite different from under the stewardship of Finidi George and Jose Peseiro. But can they extend that dominance again at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali?

Fresh off a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin, fans will believe that to be the case as Nigeria sits comfortably atop Group D. The catch though, Rwanda’s head coach, Torsten Spittler, is banking on home advantage to pull off an upset. With a passionate Kigali crowd behind them, Rwanda, bolstered by a 1-1 draw with Libya, aims to make history by defeating the Super Eagles for the first time ever.

While Eguavoen remains confident, emphasizing his team’s readiness and respect for the opposition, Spittler sees an opportunity to shake things up. Could Rwanda surprise Nigeria and rewrite the narrative, or will the Super Eagles soar once again?

Fans are bracing for a potential twist in this high-stakes clash.
