Sunday Igboho arrives Benin Republic court ahead of trial

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has arrived at Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, Top Naija has gathered.

Igboho, who was apprehended around 8pm on Monday at the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, may be tried for immigration-related offences.

It was learnt that the activist was accused of illegally owning a passport of the Benin Republic.

Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were apprehended at the airport when they wanted to catch a flight to Germany.

“He (Igboho) was arrested in Cotonou on Monday night while he tried to travel. He was already at the airport with a passport.

“The immigration officers suspected the passport and so they stopped him. In the process, they discovered he was the one,” a source acquainted with the matter had revealed to Top Naija.

Several Yoruba-speaking supporters of Igboho were seen on the court premises on Thursday afternoon.

They called for the Yoruba Nation agitator not to be returned to the nation, stating that he had committed no crime.
