Sultan of Sokoto urges Muslims to search for Shawwal new moon

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called upon Muslims across Nigeria to look for the Shawwal 1445AH new moon on Monday, April 8, 2024.

He requested that any sightings of the moon be reported to the Sultan’s secretariat through designated phone numbers.

The Sultan’s secretariat has provided the following contact numbers for reporting moon sightings: 0803 715 7100, 0706 741 6900, 0806 630 3077, 0803 614 9757, 0803 596 5322, and 0809 994 5903.

This call to action aims to facilitate the sighting of the new moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.

Muslims are encouraged to actively participate in this tradition by reporting any sightings to the designated authorities.

The information was released by Bashir Ahmad, the Digital Communications Assistant to Former President Muhammadu Buhari.
