Sultan of Sokoto officially declares Eid el Fitri
In an official proclamation, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has designated Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitri day. The announcement came through a press release signed by Professor Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council.
According to the statement released in Sokoto on Monday evening, the council has acknowledged the report and formally declared Wednesday as the commencement of Shawwal 1445AH, marking the end of Ramadan.
In his message, His Eminence, the Sultan, extended his felicitations to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and conveyed wishes for Allah’s guidance and blessings. He urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country, while also extending warm wishes for a joyous Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
The declaration aligns with Saudi Arabia’s announcement of Eid-el-Fitr on Wednesday, April 10, after the crescent moon was not sighted on Monday evening. This confirmation comes as Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
