Strike: ASUU gives Federal Govt 14 days to implement agreements

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has made it clear that there will not be a strike if agreements are implemented by the Federal Government in the next two weeks.

President of ASUU, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, made this disclosure in an interview with NAN on Monday.

TopNaija recalls that ASUU had promised to go on strike because the federal government wasn’t following through on the deals they had made.

On June 26, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, called a meeting of the union to talk about the problems that still exist in universities and to stop the planned strike.

Osodeke said that none of the deals made with the Federal Government had been carried out as of the time of filing this report.

“At the meeting called by the Minister of Education, we agreed that after two weeks, we will meet to see the progress the government has made.

“We will also see what we will do next if the government fail to implement the agreements reached.

“The meeting in the next two weeks is to see what they have done which will inform our decision,” he said.
