"Stop lying to yourself about Love" -- Tems

Love is blind, you can scratch that from Tems view on what Love is.

In a recent episode of Flow With Korty podcast, Nigerian music sensation, Temilade Openiyi who is most famously known by her stage name, Tems, was most critical on people’s perceived notion about Love.

Despite not being in love nor having falling in love herself, Tems shades people for theorizing that love is blind just because they want to ignore the flaws of their respective partners.

The 28-year-old artiste challenged the well-known saying, “Love is blind,” arguing that true love is a conscious, informed choice rather than a blind emotion.

“I haven’t been in love,” Tems admitted.

“For me, loving someone means saying, ‘I see you and I still want to be in your life.’ Even if you irritate me at times, I will always choose you.”

She emphasized the importance of recognizing and accepting a partner’s flaws while still choosing to be with them.

“I’d like to be in love, to have a deep yet genuine experience rather than being blind. I do not believe that love is blind; I believe that if you truly love someone, you love them with your eyes open.”

Tems also noted that many people confuse infatuation with love, defining true love as seeing someone’s imperfections and still wanting to be with them.

“If you’re blind, that is not love,” she asserted.

“Love is when you’ve seen the person, their flaws are visible, and you’re like, ‘I still want it. I still want that.’ I want someone to see my imperfections and still desire to be with me.”
