Stirred Reactions As Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Reveals Secret Habits
Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, when he is not busy running Facebook and Instagram, is tending to cows.
And at the same time, he is also undergoing a tough fitness regime, is building a bunker in Hawaii, and fighting Jiu Jitsu.
Zuckerberg is raising cattle for beef by feeding them nuts and beer.
Of late, Zuckerberg has taken up a number of passion projects.
Zuckerberg is also building a massive bunker in Hawaii.
What do you think of when you hear the name Mark Zuckerberg? Well, you think of a young and almost genius tech CEO, a man who is behind some of the most successful tech products of our times.
Directly or indirectly, Zuckerberg is responsible for Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and a number of other tech products and services.
But what you probably don’t think is a man who is enjoying Hawaii, loves running fast –– no, extra fast, miles –– and is now growing cattle for beef by feeding them meals made of expensive macadamia nuts and beer.
In the last two years, again, and again, we have seen Zuckerberg sharing details of his passion and passion projects that humanise him and make him seem like a person who not only works hard but also knows how to have fun.
At the same time, Zuckerberg himself remains active on Instagram, regularly updating his followers and giving them a sneak peek into his private life.
His life beyond the boardroom is all about a rich existence where the billionaire dedicates himself to his passions and hobbies –– whether these are breaking proverbial bones and competing head-on with the world’s top jiu-jitsu fighters or indulging in his beef farming while taking sun-kissed dips in Hawaii with his family.
In other words, the passions and hobbies of Mark Zuckerberg are many. And here are some that we have heard of in recent months.
Freaking about fitness
Zuckerberg is known to be an avid runner, although he has said that he doesn’t train as much as he used to. Last year, in May, Zuckerberg set the fastest record for a 5K run in 19 minutes and 34 seconds at the Stanford Medicine My Heart Counts 5K. His impressive time even placed him in the 11th position against the 885 finishers and 4th in his age group. In 2016, he even set a goal of running 365 miles and completed it with five months to spare.
Not just running, Zuckerberg even completed the “Murph challenge,” a CrossFit workout challenge that even the elite US army commandos struggle with. The challenge includes running one mile, then doing 100 pull-ups, 200 press-ups, and 300 squats, followed by another mile run, all while wearing a 9 kg weighted vest. Zuckerberg completed it in 39 minutes 58 seconds, which is top level athletics.
In addition, Zuckerberg even competed in his first jiu-jitsu tournament and won several medals for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu team. He practises the sport regularly – or was doing so, before he injured his knee. He is friends with some world champion MMA fighters. His skills at fighting were particularly highlighted when his tech rival, Elon Musk, challenged him to a cage fight.
But the entire bunker is just a part of Zuckerberg’s private compound, which he bought in Hawaii for more than $100 million to construct his Kualoa Ranch.
The compound is reportedly located on the northeast side of Kauai, the oldest of the four main Hawaiian islands. The ranch spans around 570 hectares (1,400 acres). Zuckerberg’s property in Hawaii also includes a public beach and cattle ranch.
Beefing with cows
And because Zuckerberg has a ranch, he also has cows. At Ko’olau Ranch on Kauai, he is raising Wagyu and Angus cattle, prized and expensive breeds renowned for their exceptional quality. His ambition? To produce the world’s finest beef. To achieve this, he’s pampering his cows with a gourmet diet of premium macadamia nuts and locally-brewed (and probably artisanal) beer. This unique feeding regimen promises to yield steaks of unparalleled marbling, fit for the billionaire’s dining table.
Interestingly, Zuckerberg’s approach to cattle farming is not just about producing premium beef, it is also about sustainability and family involvement. He and his daughters are actively engaged in planting macadamia trees, ensuring that the cattle’s diet consists of organic food grown on the property.
At the same time, Zuckerberg has started coming across not just as a person passionate about his hobbies, but also someone who is a family man. In his Instagram posts he often talks about his daughters and his wife. For example, when he posted about the cows enjoying beer at his ranch, he also talked of how the entire beef plan is organic and economically sustainable. And as part of that, he and his daughters were seeding macadamia nut trees. He wrote, “My daughters help plant the mac trees and take care of our different animalsâ€æ We’re still early in the journey, and it’s fun improving on it every season. Of all my projects, this is the most delicious.”
