Southern Governors meet in Lagos today on Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Igboho

The 17 southern Governors, under the aegis of Southern Governors’ Forum, will today meet in Lagos State to discuss on the re-arrest of the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and the recent attack on Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho.

The meeting of Governors, which is a follow-up to the last one which took place in Asaba, Delta State, on May 11, will also deliberate and review the state of the country, as it affects the geo-political zones.

This gathering comes as a result of a raid on Sunday Igboho’s residence, the intrigues over the secessionist rally in Lagos and the rearrest and prosecution of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Gboyega Akosile, confirmed that the meeting is expected to begin sitting by 10am, at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, and hosted by Sanwo-Olu.

The meeting is also expected to deliberate on issues bothering on insecurity, true federalism, open grazing, state police, restructuring, food security, among others.

It will also discuss the level of accomplishments of the resolutions arrived at the last meeting and plan the way forward.

The key goal is to further express joint interest and reaffirm commitment to a united Nigeria capable of assuring equity, fairness and justice in an atmosphere of true associative democracy.
