South African dancer, Zodwa Wabantu banned by Malawi Govt

The Malawi Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife has banned, Rebecca Libram aka Zodwa Wabantu from performing any show in the country.

The entertainer, is known for performing on stage half naked and most times without underwear.

The show is expected to hold at Dominic’s in Blantyre on June 11, 2022.

According to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife, Michael Usi, the event is not fit for Malawi.

Michael said confirmed on Friday, June 3, that his ministry has told organisers not to go ahead with the show.

One of the organisers of the event Biggie Lu said Zodwa Wabantu, was not expected to perform pantless in Malawi.

Similarly, her show in Zimbabwe was cancelled in 2017 after she reportedly refused to perform wearing underwear.

Wabantu was also banned in Zambia in 2018, as authorities argued that her performances undermine the country’s “national values”.
