Sound Sultan to be honored by Lagos State Govt; set to sponsor FESTAC Music Festival

The FESTAC music festival will be sponsored by the Lagos State Government in the honor of late musician, Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan.

 

The Lagos State Government has made a promise to sponsor the FESTAC music festival to honor the late iconic singer Sound Sultan.

 

The singer died at the age of 44 on Sunday morning in July 2021, after battling angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.

 

According to Punch, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu, speaking at the third edition of the FESTAC Music Festival, said the singer’s vision of raising young talents will be kept alive.

 

According to reports, Bonu, stated that the event will be held annually and will span for a period of four days in December.

 

Sultan’s brother, Dare Fasasi, popularly known as Baba Dee, who is the Festival Director and Chief Executive of Naija Ninja Production, thanked the state government for the support.
