Troops Guards Brigade of Nigerian Army, deployed at Mararaba, Nasarawa state for Internal Security Operations have arrested an arms dealer with arms and ammunitions during a stop and search operation at the checkpoint on Thursday.
The arms dealer who gave his name as Mr Peter Iorlaha was apprehended with a bag containing 2 Locally made pistols, 1 locally made short gun, 2 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 5 live cartridges, 2 torch lights, a screw driver, charms and a Tecno mobile handset.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect revealed that the weapons and other items were handed over to him by his uncle for safe keeping.
The Nigeria army having be working very hard to combat crime in the country and there good works have not gone unnoticed by good Nigerians as a wealthy Nigerian businessman, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola, the Aare Muslimi of Yorubaland, Delta and Edo States and owner of De-Damak Motors company has donated two brand new SUVs to the Nigerian Army.
This was according to a report gotten from the official Twitter page of the Nigerian Army. The Photos of the businessman and the official of the Army were posted on the Army’s Twitter page.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday. Speaking at the ceremony while presenting the keys of the vehicles to the Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, at the Army Headquarters Abuja, Akinola stated that he was making the donations as a form of appreciation to the efforts of the efforts of the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the country.
He also used the medium to encourage the men of the force not to relent in their efforts to quell the tension going on in the Northern part of the country.
And he also admonished other well meaning Nigerians to take their time to see how they can also make contributions to support the Army and motivate their men, especially the ones that are actively involved in the battle field against Insurgents.
