Snoop Dogg teams up with Gen Z influencers for Paris Olympics

American rapper Snoop Dogg is set to collaborate with Gen Z social media influencers to bring the Paris Olympics to a younger audience, expressing his eagerness to “learn some new tricks” along the way.

The 52-year-old hip-hop icon, now a special correspondent for NBCUniversal, will play a key role in energizing the media company’s coverage of the Games.

Snoop Dogg’s involvement aims to infuse pop culture and celebrity appeal into the U.S. broadcast. He will explore Paris landmarks, attend various competitions, and provide regular updates during NBCUniversal’s prime-time coverage.

“I have a house full of Gen Z,” Snoop shared during a press briefing, referring to his children and grandchildren. “I love getting on the same page with them. I’m an old dog who can learn new tricks.”

NBCUniversal is also sending 27 influencers to the Olympics. These influencers will create content for platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube, aiming to engage young fans who primarily consume media on their phones.

Snoop Dogg will embed with Team USA athletes, try out various sports, and highlight the personal stories of the athletes. “It’s going to be a little more insightful because I’ve spent time with these athletes and some of their families as well,” he said.

Additionally, Snoop Dogg will be one of the torchbearers, carrying the Olympic flame in its final stretch before the opening ceremony on Friday. “I look at this as a prestigious opportunity. I’ll be on my best behaviour,” Snoop remarked.
