Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as Portable has been granted bail after he allegedly reported himself to the Police in Ogun State.
Recall that the Ogun State Command invented the singer, Portable over for questioning after a viral video captured him ordering a group of men to beat up a man identified as D.J Chicken
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command says the incident was said to have taken place somewhere within Ogun State about two days ago.
“Such unruly and violent behavior is not only barbaric but unbecoming of somebody who is supposed to be a role model for the youths and therefore should not be tolerated.
In view of this, the Command is using this medium to advise Okikiola Habeeb a.k.a Portable to report himself at the nearest police station in Ogun State, failure of which his arrest will be ordered.
The flagrant display of impunity by portable in the viral video is condemnable and if not checked, it will send a wrong signal to the youths who are looking up to him as a role model.” the statement read
In view of this, the singer, Portable on Wednesday, June 29, reported himself to the Ogun state police command.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the artist reported at Eleweran at about 5pm with his father and manager.
”He was immediately ordered to be taken to the public complain bureau office by the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, where he was interrogated about his role in the assault melted to the boy in the video.
However, since the offense committed is a bailable one, and coupled with the strike action embarked upon by the civil servants in the state which also affected our courts, the suspect was released to a reliable surety who promised to produce him anytime he is needed.”Abimbola said
The police spokesman added that the assaulted victim has also been invited to come and state his own side of the story to enable the command complete the investigation on time.
