Singer, Portable apologises for Headies threat, retracts statement
Fast-rising controversial singer, Portable has apologized to the organizers of the Headies Awards for threatening co-nominees.
The singer had made death threats in a viral video on Instagram that he would kill whoever wins the awards he was nominated for, over him.
Portable got two nominations, the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste.’
In reaction to the viral video, the Headies organizers released a statement.
He was advised to retract his statement and issue an apology on his Instagram page or he could be disqualified.
The organizers also disclosed that they had reported the issue to the police.
Portable has however issued a statement to apologize and retract the controversial statement.
He noted that he didn’t “mean any harm to the nominees in any way”.
