Sign this player if Bellingham goes to Real Madrid — Michael Owen
Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has suggested that his former club should sign West Ham’s midfielder, Declan Rice, if they miss out on Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham this summer to Real Madrid.
Owen’s comments came after reports emerged that Bellingham was keen on a move to Real Madrid, and Liverpool could potentially lose out on the young midfielder.
Rice has been linked with several top clubs this summer, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. The 22-year-old has been a key player for West Ham over the past few seasons and is considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
However, Rice’s current deal with West Ham is set to expire at the end of next season, and he has yet to sign a new deal with the Hammers. This has led to speculation that he could leave the club this summer.
Speaking on The Final Word, Owen was asked about Liverpool’s potential transfer plans if they missed out on Bellingham. The former striker replied, “Go and get the next best, try to get Declan Rice or get someone else who is of a top standard.”
Liverpool has been linked with several midfielders this summer, including Youri Tielemans of Leicester City and Renato Sanches of Lille. However, with Owen’s comments, it seems that Rice could be a top target for the club if they are unable to sign Bellingham.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will make a move for Rice this summer or if Bellingham will indeed move to Real Madrid. However, with the transfer window set to open in a few weeks, fans of the club will be eagerly waiting to see who they sign to bolster their midfield for the upcoming season.
