Sign Reece James -- Ex-player tells Liverpool

Former Liverpool player Dean Saunders has expressed his desire for his former club to pursue the signing of Reece James from Chelsea.

Saunders believes that Reece James, who has made 147 appearances for Chelsea across various competitions, showcasing his abilities with 11 goals and 20 assists, is an exceptional footballer.

James, a talented 23-year-old right-back, recently concluded a season marred by injuries during the 2022-2023 campaign. He featured in just 24 matches across all competitions for Chelsea, registering two goals and providing an equal number of assists.

Saunders shared his thoughts on the matter during an interview on talkSPORT, where he suggested Liverpool consider recruiting James to bolster their squad. He highlighted the need for Liverpool to potentially add another center-back but emphasized the qualities and talent that James possesses.

Speaking on the radio program, Saunders stated,

“I think maybe they [Liverpool] need another center-back. Sign Reece James from Chelsea. Sign him if he can stay fit. He’s a great player.”

Liverpool, known for their proactive approach in the transfer market, could be enticed by the prospect of securing the services of Reece James. The English international has showcased his versatility, primarily as a right-back but also capable of contributing in midfield if needed.

While injuries have limited James’ playing time in the past season, his overall performances for Chelsea have been impressive. His attacking prowess combined with defensive solidity make him an attractive option for Liverpool as they seek to strengthen their squad.

As the transfer window gains momentum, Liverpool’s potential interest in Reece James adds an intriguing dimension to the ongoing transfer market activities.

The decision-makers at Anfield will weigh the merits of acquiring a talented and versatile player like James, while considering the potential impact on the team’s overall dynamics and depth.

Football enthusiasts will eagerly monitor any developments regarding a potential transfer of Reece James to Liverpool, as the club aims to reinforce its ranks ahead of the upcoming season, with the endorsement of a former Liverpool player adding further fuel to the speculations surrounding this potential move.
