Sick Ondo police officer refuses COVID-19 test

A patient in Ondo who is allegedly showing coronavirus symptoms has reportedly refused to submit herself for testing.

The patient is a senior police officer in Ondo  State. Three police officers were reportedly among the 13 persons that tested positive for the disease in the state. They are at the  Infectious Disease Hospital in Akure receiving treatment.

It was learnt that the ill policewoman attached to the Yaba Police Division, Ondo town, had opted for herbal medicine.

The development is said to have triggered panic in her home, with some of her family members afraid they could be infected.

A relative of the officer, who disclosed this on  WhatsApp, said the cop had been taking herbs at home to treat herself instead of going to hospital.

He said he decided to cry out so that the woman would not infect people around her.

He fears the officer might have infected her family, colleagues and neighbours if her case is  positive.

The source said, “I’m ready to give all information needed, she is  my blood sister. The family members did not know.  People don’t know (about her health conditions) and she is using herbs.

“Who knows what is happening to other officers too? She is not the only one at Yaba police station. The station is  big.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed that an officer had contracted the disease at Yaba Police Division.

He said, “When I learnt about the matter and after our investigation, we discovered that it was a  Federal SARS officer in the division that they were referring to and he has been quarantined.”

I love to read, write and TRAVEL!!! The media space is my canvas to paint the truths of our brands and the stories of our Nigerian culture. I love a good book any day because with them I can travel to spaces that are perfect in their frame.
