Shakira opens up on what she lost while dating Gerard Pique

Iconic Colombian singer, Shakira finally spills the bean on her relationship with Barcelona legend, Gerard Pique and their eventual split a few years ago.

In an interview with the Sunday Times published on Saturday, the renowned singer-songwriter disclosed that she had intentionally put her career on hold to support Piqué during his playing days at Barcelona.

The decision to focus on family rather than music ultimately took a toll on Shakira, especially considering the relationship did not endure, with the couple parting ways during the summer of 2022 amidst rumors of infidelity.

Since the breakup, Shakira has relocated from Spain to Miami, where she has forged friendships with prominent figures like David Beckham, whom she knew from before her relationship with Piqué when Beckham played for Barcelona’s rival, Real Madrid.

Throughout the interview, Shakira remained diplomatic regarding her past relationship with Piqué. However, she did acknowledge the irony in being presented with a Latin Grammy by one of Piqué’s former football rivals, Sergio Ramos, describing it as a form of cosmic justice.
