It’s most definitely a news that will be controversial to the outside world and would attract consequences should rights group come at the player.

Senegalese footballer and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Idrissa Gueye, was said to have boycotted a match partly due to not wanting to wear PSG”s customized LGBT Rainbow jersey to promote Gay rights.

The Ligue 1 club played against Montpellier on Saturday, May 14, in game and decided to wear a special version of their white away kit to represent the LGBT and equal rights and inclusion movement.

Instead of its normal blue colors, the numbers on the back of the jersey were multi colored in a rainbow format to show support for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.

Gueye, who decided to absent himself from the squad, was partly defended by manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who labeled the reason for his exclusion as personal reasons, rather than an injury concern.

“Idrissa made the trip to Montpellier, but for personal reasons he had to leave the match sheet. But he was not injured,”Pochettino said.

Although, it can be said to be the truth, in that Gueye, a devout Muslim who is known for his frequent religious posts on social media, accepts that his religion condemns homosexuality.
