Senegal Are Not Brilliant, Just Above Average—Ex Chelsea Star

With England set to face off against Senegal in the round of 16 of the Qatar world cup tournament, it is inherent that the English media will do all it takes to build the hype surrounding said fixture and mount pressure on the African side through intimidation tactics, at least that is how Jason Cundy, a former Chelsea star sees the game playing out.

The former Chelsea player, Jason Cundy made his prediction for the result of England’s match against Senegal in the World Cup round of 16 on Sunday, and as expected, he sees no other result but a win for the Three Lions going into the knock out stage, owing to England’s superiority against Senegal.

Senegal defeated Ecuador, while Gareth Southgate’s team won their last group match against Wales.

Cundy made a prediction with the thought that the Three Lions would triumph 2-1 over the African champions, theorizing though the Teranga Lions of Senegal are good, they are only above average compared to the English side.

“Senegal are good, they are not brilliant, but they are good,” Cundy told Grosvenor Sport.

“England will have to be at their very, very best to beat them and I think they’ll be. England will have too much for them.

“Senegal have not got Sadio Mane, imagine if he was playing. They might even have topped their group if he was.

“I am going for a 2-1 win for England. It is going to be tight, but England will have too much. But I am not underestimating Senegal at all.

“Quality-wise England are better than them, but Senegal have physical players – quick, strong and with good quality – so it will be tight.”

It appears Jason Cundy is setting the tone for the fixture ahead of the last 16 round, and of course, it will be quite exciting to see how both teams respond going into the game.
