Senator’s Wife Presents Vehicle, Cash, Refrigerator To 2000 Women In Gombe
About 2000 women are beneficiaries of Zainab Alkali’s empowerment scheme, not leaving out her praise singer whom she gave a vehicle.
Zainab is the wife of the Senator representing Gombe North in the National Assembly, Sai’du Alkali.
According to a press statement obtained from the Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media and Publicity, Bintu Sunmonu, the state governor’s wife, Asma’u Yahaya, was on ground to inaugurate the distribution of the empowerment items which included vehicles and motorcycles.
Also, 500 refrigerators, 500 sewing machines, and cash gifts were presented to women to all committee members of this program. Another set of over three hundred women also received N20,000 – N25,000 each.
Yahaya, who lauded the initiative of the senator’s wife and her husband, said their efforts would put smiles on the faces of thousands of family members in the state.
She advised the beneficiaries to use it in improving their standard of living, while calling on wealthy individuals to also lend their helping hands to the needy and vulnerable in the society.
The statement partly read, “Launching the distribution program at Senator Saidu Alkali’s residence, GRA, Gombe, the governor’s wife, presented the keys of two vehicles to the Gombe North women leader and the senator’s wife praise singer/musician, fondly called Auwal last don.”
“Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya will very soon continue with series of empowerment Programmes and initiatives to better the lots of women and youths of Gombe State,”Alkali said.
Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali is a Nigerian politician who was elected Senator for the Gombe North constituency of Gombe State, Nigeria in August 2010 after the death of the incumbent senator Kawu Peto Dukku
