Senate backs presidential jet (VIDEO)
Senate President Godswill Akpabio indicated that if President Tinubu requests it, the Senate is likely to approve funds for the presidential jet.
He emphasized the Senate’s commitment to both the president’s duties and the welfare of the Nigerian people, stating, “We care about the president and we care about the Nigerian people. We will approve things that will benefit the Nigerian people.”
Akpabio further elaborated on the Senate’s role in enhancing the living standards of the populace while supporting the president’s operational needs.
“We will approve things that would improve the living standard of the people. At the same time, we will also take cognizance of the duties of the president,” he said.
Addressing the specific matter of the presidential jet, Akpabio remarked, “If his vehicle is bad, we will repair the vehicle. If his plane is bad, we will approve money for the repair of the plane. So that is not an issue.”
He reassured the public that there is currently no request before the Senate regarding the presidential jet and advised against undue concern about the matter.
