Sen. Ayogu Eze passing: Enugu State NUJ Mourns

The Enugu State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Sen. Ayogu Eze.

In a statement released in Enugu on Friday, the NUJ conveyed its shock and sadness at the loss of Sen. Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North in the National Assembly.

Jointly signed by the state NUJ Chairman, Sam Udekwe, and Secretary, Mrs. Ifeoma Amuta, the statement described Sen. Ayogu Eze as a distinguished communication icon who made significant contributions to journalism and media development.

The NUJ acknowledged Sen. Eze’s pivotal role in creating employment opportunities for journalists in federal establishments, as well as his impactful leadership during his tenure as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Communication and Media in 2007.

Sen. Ayogu Eze’s legacy extended beyond his political career, as he was recognized for his distinguished journalism background, having worked with reputable media organizations such as Guardian Newspaper and Newswatch Magazine. Additionally, he served as a Commissioner for Information in Enugu State.

His passing has deeply affected not only the media fraternity but also the political landscape and the entire Enugu North Senatorial Zone, particularly the community of Enugu Ezike, his hometown.

Sen. Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North at the National Assembly, passed away on Wednesday, April 24th, leaving behind a profound legacy in both journalism and politics.
