Security beefed up as court delivers ruling on El-Zakzaky’s bail application

A Kaduna State High Court will today Monday, July 29th deliver a ruling on the bail application filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) aka Shi’ites, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. Security around the court in Zaria has been beefed up to avoid any break down in law and order.

Justice Darius Khobo will rule on the application filed by the leader of the Shiites’ group who is seeking permission to travel abroad for medical treatment. The bail hearing comes barely three days after a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Federal Government the power to proscribe the group.

The Shi’ites leader has been in detention since December 2015, when some members of the group had a bloody clash with men of the Nigerian Amy in Zaria. The members of the group have overtime demanded the release of their leader, requests which have been denied by the Federal government even after court rulings.
