Saving America: Trump, Kamala Harris, aftermath of Biden
U.S. President Joe Biden surprised the world when addressed the nation last Wednesday, announcing his decision to drop his reelection bid in a bid to save America from Donald Trump.
The sedate Oval Office speech, a stark contrast to the intense campaign atmosphere, saw Biden express his dedication to saving democracy over personal ambition.

However, shortly before Biden’s speech, former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Kamala Harris, Biden’s successor atop the Democratic ticket, during his first rally since the switch. Trump branded Harris a “radical left lunatic,” responding to her fierce criticism over his felony convictions, sexual abuse liability, and fraud judgments.
With momentum building for the Harris campaign, NBC News revealed that former President Barack Obama is poised to endorse Harris soon. Discussions are also underway for Obama and Harris to appear together on the campaign trail, a move that could significantly bolster her bid.
Despite believing he deserved a second term based on his record, Biden cited his love for the country as the reason for stepping aside. “I decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That is the best way to unite our nation,” Biden declared, following mounting pressure from within his party after a lackluster debate performance against Trump on June 27.
