Mr. Right wouldn’t show up, so Sarah Wilkinson decided to do things in her own right.

Talk about self-love taken out of context as 42-year-old Sarah Wilkinson walks down the aisle to marry herself after waiting 20 years without finding the right partner.

Sarah Wilkinson reportedly saved for her dream wedding for over two decades working as a credit controller just to end up not finding the right partner to walk down the aisle with.

She organized the wedding event with her friend serving as the officiant with the ceremony taking place last month on September 30 at Harvest House in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

According to Sarah Wilkinson, the decision was a natural progression after she purchased an engagement ring for herself, expressing her happiness at being the center of attention on her special day.

While it wasn’t an official wedding, Sarah considered it as her wedding day, reasoning that she didn’t want to miss out on the celebration she had saved for, even without a partner by her side.

Over the years, she diligently saved money for her dream wedding, eventually spending £10,000 on the celebration, which included 40 close family and friends attending the ceremony, with another 40 joining in the evening festivities at a nearby tennis club.

Sarah shared that her friends were not surprised by her decision to stage her own wedding, and the day was filled with joy, as everyone had a great time, with many remarking that it was a typical “Sarah thing to do.”

The bride crafted 14 vows for herself, with the first one being a promise never to relinquish control of the TV remote.

She conceived the idea for her wedding when she turned 40 during lockdown and decided to fulfill her desire by purchasing a diamond engagement ring she had always wanted.

For her special day, Sarah donned a white sequined gown and had a tiered wedding cake topped with a figurine of a bride kissing a frog. Her mother accompanied her down the aisle, and her friend, professional wedding planner Katherine Cresswell, conducted the ceremony.

Reflecting on the celebration, Katherine Cresswell noted,

“As much as it was about Sarah, it was about bringing everyone together. There’s always a need to celebrate, and I think we need it more than ever right now.”

Despite enjoying her perfect wedding day, Sarah Wilkinson hasn’t ruled out the possibility of meeting a future partner.

She remarked, “Not at all… but it was just a case of giving up looking because it’s a lot of effort.”
