Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, has advised the police to enforce the total ban on motorcycles (Okada) without compromise in the six Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of the state.

It was reported  that Sanwo-Olu gave this order on Wednesday as the ban is to take effect from June 1, 2022, while he spoke with all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders across the State at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

The affected areas include Ikeja, Surulere, Eti Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Apapa local government areas.

In a tweet by the governor on his official handle, Sanwo-Olu said “This is a phased ban and we expect that within the shortest time, this ban will be enforced.

“We have advised the police to enforce the order without compromise, and we would not condone any security formation that relaxes the new ban in its jurisdiction.”

Sanwo-Olu also advised residents patronising Okada riders on highways should embrace alternative transportation schemes already provided by the state government.
