Sanwo-Olu sacks LASTMA boss, Bolaji Oreagba

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sanctioned the removal of Bolaji Oreagba from his position as General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), as confirmed by Olawale Musa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation.

In a statement released on Thursday, Musa conveyed the Governor’s decision to appoint Bakare-Oki Olalekan as the acting General Manager of LASTMA, effective immediately.

The move to dismiss Oreagba and appoint Bakare-Oki was attributed to the aim of enhancing performance, eliminating staff misdemeanors, and ensuring sustained efficient traffic management across Lagos roads.

Musa highlighted Bakare-Oki’s extensive service within the Lagos State Public Service, dating back to April 25, 2000. He notably ascended to the position of Deputy Director in the Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA before being appointed as the acting General Manager.

The newly appointed acting General Manager boasts a master’s degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Lagos. His professional background includes participation in numerous capacity-building programs focused on inter-modal traffic management systems, both locally and internationally.

Emphasizing Governor Sanwo-Olu’s confidence in Bakare-Oki’s capabilities, Musa urged him to leverage his wealth of experience to elevate the Agency to greater achievements.

Expressing gratitude, Musa conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to the outgoing General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, acknowledging his dedication, commitment, and commendable service to the state.
