Samuel Eto’o Becomes The Social Media Joke

Samuel Eto’o is one man no one wants to see angry as we wouldn’t like Samuel Eto’o when he is angry, with a recent footage of the Cameroonian Football body’s president going berserk on a fan at the Qatar World Cup emerging online.

There have been reactions to a video showing Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroon Football Association, beating a guy in Qatar.

After Brazil’s 4-1 victory over South Korea in the World Cup round of 16, Eto’o was seen on camera kneeing a man in the head during a brawl.

On Monday evening, the incident took place in front of the 974 Stadium in Doha.

While taking photos with his admirers, Eto’o challenged the person filming him.

The individual in the viral video continued to retreat as the former Chelsea and Inter Milan star pursued him.

The legendary Cameroonian was seen handing over his phone to someone while a member of his entourage tried to seize the man’s camera.

When the two men holding him back let go, Eto’o attacked the man holding the camera by kneeing him in the head.

Social media has been used by some football fans to respond to the news.

One of Qatar’s “legacy ambassadors” for the FIFA World Cup, Eto’o, was attacked by some, but others defended him for what he did to the man who is identified as a YouTuber, Said Mamouni.

Some Twitter reactions gathered of the incident goes like this:

@santherlabelle:

“I know for a fact that man said something very derogatory to Samuel Eto’o. Because one minute he was all smiles and taking pics, the next is doing temple runs and angry birds. The journalist said something that got Samuel heated. Waiting for the full Story.

@OgaNlaMedia:

“The journalist asked Eto’o how much he bribed a referee for a game” – This is the truth right? Terrible and ridiculous question. I agree as a leader Eto’o could have handled it better & use that opportunity to clear the rumour if there was any leadership skills.”

@osasuo:

“@SamuelEtoo must realize that as a big football personality, he must keep cool, even when provoked. The reaction of the @FecafootOfficie president, as an ambassador of #Cameroon and #Africa, should be measured. Blowing his top like this is unwise.”

The Algerian YouTuber, Said Mamouni, had this to say regarding the assault by the Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o:

“I’m at the police station to file a complaint against Eto’o. He hit me, and someone else with him pushed me and destroyed my camera.

“I asked him how is Bakary Gassama [referee that took charge of African World Cup playoff] and if he gave him a bribe. He then hit me and destroyed both my camera and mic.

“I will take my rights here in Qatar as it is a state of law, he did hit me in the chest and the face and in my elbow,” Mamouni said on his YouTube channel.
