President Vladimir Putin “finally agrees” to meet Ukraine president, Zelensky physically to settle the feud currently boiling in Ukraine.

According to news gathered by TopNaija.ng, Putin will now meet Zelensky  somewhere anonymous.  This is happening after Russia bombed an art school and theatre in Mariupol which was an abode for civilians The Ukrainian president labelled this a “war crime”.

This is the first time since the beginning of this war on the 24th of February that diplomatic teams from both countries have organized peace treaty on the condition it is a neutral one.

Putin has come to terms with his top diplomats and accepted he will need to lead the negotiations personally “at this point” , the BBC’s Lyse Doucet said.

‘The diplomats are talking, the negotiators are talking. We understand President Putin has finally agreed that he will meet, at some point, President Zelensky who has been posing for a gathering since January,’ she said. ‘He hasn’t said it publicly , he says quite the other publicly .’

Zelensky yesterday declared that Russia will ‘go down in history of responsibility for ‘war crimes’, and admonished the invaders’ bombardment and siege of southern port city Mariupol, which has for weeks been pounded by airstrikes and missiles. ‘To do that to a peaceful city… may be a terror which will be remembered for hundreds of years to return ,’ the Ukrainian leader said. He added that peace talks with Russia are holding despite being ‘not easy and pleasant’.

According to reports, Kyiv has insisted on the inclusion of 1 or more Western nuclear powers within the negotiations with the Kremlin and on legally binding security guarantees for Ukraine. But Chancellor Rishi Sunak today urged a ‘degree of skepticism’ over any potential peace deal in Ukraine, as a politician in Zelensky’s office told AP that the most subject discussed between the 2 sides last week was whether Russian troops would remain in separatist regions in eastern Ukraine after the war and where the borders would lie.

Zelensky also said today he discussed the course of peace talks with French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday. ‘Ukraine has always sought a peaceful solution. Moreover, we have an interest in peace now,’ he said. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna today told Sky News that her nation won’t cede any territory to Russia in future peace talks. ‘Ukrainian territory may be a territory which has been fixed in 1991,’ she said. ‘Within its entirety and internationally recognized border, it isn’t only the position of Ukraine, it is the position of the entire world enshrined in numerous decisions of the UN Security Council… in order, that isn’t an option for discussion.

‘Of course, there could be room for discussion on the reintegration of these territories that are under occupation for the last eight years.’ ‘I can say that the sensation of the political priority remains there, while the last word agenda of today is the ceasefire and therefore the security guarantees.’ The deputy prime minister said she believed genocide is being committed against Ukrainian people. ‘I absolutely believe it (is a genocide). I’m a lawyer myself and I commit myself to implementation of the choice ,’ she declared.

She mentioned the ruling of the International Court of Justice within the Hague, which has urged Russia to ‘immediately suspend the military operations’ it began on February 24 in Ukraine. ‘We know that the words of the ruling, the orders, mean nothing to Russia, but it isn’t something I presume or anybody else presumes, this is often the truth ,’ she said. ‘Putin and the Kremlin are the worst criminals.

‘They commit the worst crimes and they are doing a targeted attempt on the Ukrainian population… it isn’t an issue, it’s simply the truth we are all facing within the 21st century.
